Wickenburg is known for its’ Western/Cowboy Atmosphere. The winter season comes alive with a multitude of rides that are sponsored by organizations around Wickenburg. Some of these are the Desert Caballeros Ride and the Annual Land of the Sun Endurance Ride sponsored by the Wickenburg Horseman’s Association.
Wickenburg also keeps the horsemanship spirit alive in the youth of the Community with a very active Saddle Club which holds fun family oriented events throughout the winter months. They have events where all children can participate in age appropriate events such as pole bending, flag racing, cloverleaf and barrel racing. They often have local businesses donate prizes like saddles and buckle awards.
In addition, ropers from the cold weather states tend to migrate to the warm weather. They will find active roping arenas at Horse World in Wickenburg, and also some of the surrounding areas such as Aguila and Forepaugh, where the terrain is flat and sandy.
